‘Digital Badges make progress’

A recent survey into the implementation of Open Badges, based within the UK, has confirmed that show that there is a lot of interest in their use, but the majority of institutions who responded[1] are at an exploratory stage.  Specifically, the concept of Open Badges seemed to be accepted, but there were several issues raised that are inhibiting their adoption.  These fall into two main categories:

PHD project about the use of ePortfolio in nurse's clinical education

The February 5th 2015 Cand.Cur. Kirsten Nielsen defended her PHD titled “Learning of nursing skills in clinical education mediated by ePortfolio " at the University of Southern Denmark.

The PhD project is a qualitative empirical study of how and to what extent an e-portfolio promotes learning of clinical nursing skills. Data is generated by field studies on clinical placements at the Hospital Unit West and in Holstebro. The informants are eleven nursing students in Module 4 by Nursing Training Center in Holstebro, Denmark. 

The Open University launches Badged Open Courses

The Open University (OU) is building on years of knowledge, experience and research into Open Educational Resources (OER) with its release of innovative new free Badged Open Courses (BOCs). These have been developed in response to the needs of informal learners who are seeking access to study skills and to have their learning recognised.
